A grueling and frustrating day for you and your well-informed colleagues, Lonneke. We're also plagued by pro-wind nose-touchers on this side of the Atlantic.
My very great sympathy for the local community. This is worse than we are experiencing in Perthshire, but the failures of the democratic process are nationwide. It shakes confidence in the Scottish Government to see how they are promoting endless generation – and unnecessary use of AI (maybe in a hope of using some of that excess electricity?).
As I outline in this post, (https://felicitymartin.substack.com/p/why-we-dont-need-more-wind-turbines) we don't need more renewable energy in Scotland, unless it's on a local scale with local control. Build it where it's going to be used and save all these transmission costs and destruction of people and nature.
This was brought up at the meeting. A councillor asked, why do we up here in the north have to power England? Planning officer says, the south of England also has a lot of renewable energy projects to deal with. Like the fact that they suffer as well makes it okay? I don’t think so.
Indeed, but I am in touch with all public services and do know what is going on. I was with the Council yesterday. Well done girls, you did a stirling job. At least APRS got rid of the battery energy storage systems. We know there was not one on this planning application, but I have no doubt there would have been one on another one.
Indeed, it is unbelieveable. However, I may have made some progress this week with SSEN. You can get more information from the SSEN Transmission Facebook page. We have formulated the energy strategy, based on Petition no. PE2160 in Parliament, to be heard on 14 January with 6 others.
OK, I asked SSEN to answer some questions, such as when, where, time and dates of community consultations would take place. They replied that they could not provide this information at the moment. I reminded them of the Social Charter they signed, especially section 8. It is on The Highland Council web site. That is as far as we have got. Petition PE2160 will be heard on 14 January 2026, with 6 others. They will not refer to that, but they have the details. Following that on 19 January 2026, there will be an on line event, led by me as a qualified environmentalist, and who sat my MSc in the Economics of Renewable Energy last week. This will be a paid event. I developed the whole of the North Highland Way on a voluntary basis, and now all information is in Environmental News. Issue 12 of the News will be published at the end of January sponsored by several local businesses, as the previous 11 have been.
A lot of people have no idea what is going on and even less of what is coming. There is so much deception going on.

Very good piece Lonneke! I like the footnote too.
Thanks. It would be interesting to analyse the whole webcast for non-verbal communication.

I looked at the Facebook page but I am not sure I understand what you are doing.
